CAPITAL COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES, INC.

The Life of a CEO: NORM EBENSTEIN

Norman Ebenstein was born in New York City on October 23, 1928. His parents, Samuel and Jeannette Ebenstein moved to Worcester, Massachusetts after their son was born and raised him to be proud of his Jewish heritage. Norm established Capital Commercial Properties, and for fifty years served as president. He helped to create a number of different shopping centers, shopping malls, and residential properties. He was especially proud of the work he did on Eden Center, which was a shopping district located in Virginia which served as a social and cultural center for people on the East Coast of Vietnamese heritage. Norm worked on many projects like this that will have a long-lasting impact on people for many years. He also participated in a number of different non-profit organizations and established a foundation with an aim of encouraging philanthropic activities and contributions.

Norm Ebenstein went to school at Phillips Exeter and then attended Brown University where he studied economics. He played on the varsity baseball team as a successful pitcher. He met Shirley Gorlick at the university where the two fell in love and went onto to have a 65-year marriage.

After earning his undergraduate degree at Brown University, Norm Ebenstein attended Boston University where he earned his law degree. Although he took great pride in all of his professional accomplishment, he also enjoyed playing tennis and throughout most of his life remained active.

Norm Ebenstein died at 88 years old on December 20, 2016. He lived a very rich and full life and was loved by his family, admired for his charisma, and revered for his intelligence.

Norm was survived by his wife Shirley along with his two children, one son, and one daughter. He had two grandchildren as well and a daughter-in-law. He will be missed by all of them but can take comfort in knowing the great impact that Norm had on our world.
